How to Update Your Website for SMS Compliance

Ensuring your website complies with US mobile carrier requirements (called 10DLC and A2P) is critical for a successful SMS messaging. 10DLC is a registered 10-digit phone number that lets businesses send compliant, carrier-approved text messages from a local number.

Please note this ONLY applies to Customers in the United States. If you are in Canada, Australia or any other country this articles does not apply to you.

Follow these steps to update your website before submitting your campaign for review.

Step 1: Update your Privacy Policy on your Website

Your website must include a privacy policy that explicitly addresses SMS data sharing, tailored to your wealth management services. It should include:

  • A clear statement that text message opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties (including subsidiaries and affiliates).
  • Instructions on how clients can opt out (e.g., texting STOP).
  • Details on how client data is used and how to contact your firm.

Example SMS Privacy Policy Section:

Text Messaging

Text message opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties (including subsidiaries and affiliates). If you wish to be removed from receiving future communications, text STOP to opt out. For questions, contact us at [email protected].

Step 2: Update your Terms & Conditions on your Website

Your website must have a dedicated SMS Terms & Conditions page, separate from your general website terms, customized for your wealth management SMS program.

Example SMS Terms and Conditions Section:

  • Consent to receive text messages.
